B&B is far too pedestrian a term to describe these two award-winners 10-rooms extravaganza in old palazzi just yards from the Spanish Steps in Rome and 13 stylish rooms next to Piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence.

It means leaving blandness in favour of original and imaginatively themed rooms. Add this to the warmth of a private home plus can’t-do-enough service and you’re in clover. Ancient features are axiomatic in Florence or Rome and there’s no cheating at Casa Howard; parquet and stone floors, heavy wood doors, marble chimney pieces and fine artworks. However it’s the striking decor and luxurious little extras (farm made breakfast is brought to your room) that turn a stay here into a treat. In order to avoid fraud, only make prepayments (reservations or deposits) using a credit card (or any other card that does not require a PIN number for online purchases) or PayPal. Never make an advanced payment using cash, checks, money orders or bank transfers. Learn why.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
Once we have checked availability for your requested dates, a deposit will be required for your booking (payment of the deposit is automatic when you use the instant booking method). We can not accept bookings without a down-payment and without confirmation of such a payment (via fax should you not have a credit card we accept).
Please note our 15 day Cancellation Policy to which you agree when you make a booking with Casa Howard:
If your cancel prior 15 days from your arrival date you will lose your deposit
If your cancel within 15 days of your arrival date you will be liable for the entire amount of your booking, which will be debited from your card
If we are able to fill your room we will return part or all the booking charge (according to the number of nights we are able to sell) and only retain the bank commissions (10-30 Euros)
We will ask for your Visa-Master Group card number and expiry date, together with your explicit authorization to charge it, plus your arrival details, and any special requests.
Should you check in after 8 p.m. it is necessary to let us know one day in advance – as we pay an extra amount to our House Keepers, otherwise € 100,00 will be added to your bill.
We do not belong to the hotel category (e.g.: we do not have a concierge, nor do we provide porters); Casa Howard are private houses partially opened to selected paying Guests.
Please book well in advance as we only have 10 rooms available in Rome and 11 in Florence!
Some of our rooms in Rome have smaller beds. In order to ensure a comfortable stay please let us know in advance if you need larger beds so we can advise you accordingly. If you do not warn us at the time of booking we may not have an alternative room to give you, and will have to debit the full amount for your stay as well as transfer you to another hotel at your own expense.

We can keep our prices utterly competitive because 95% of our Guests come through word of mouth.
As private houses open to the public and not hotels, we do not give discounts or reimbursements. Our policy is also not to give discounts to journalists or guidebook editors to ensure their unbiased comments.
All the common areas of our premises are video controlled to improve your and our safety.
VAT Invoices MUST be requested before payment is completed!
We will debit your credit card for the entire stay when you check in.
